Product Description

Granular pipe bedding designed to protect and support pipes and ducts, providing uniform support, easy compaction, and reduced point loading. Washed, low-fines material helps minimise clogging and abrasion. Choose rounded (pea) or crushed depending on the pipe manufacturer’s guidance. Common sizes & guidance 2/6.3 mm: Small diameter pipes/ducts, tight haunching, around perforations. 4/10 mm (most common): General bedding/surround for ~100–300 mm pipes. 10/20 mm: Larger pipes, deeper trenches, where faster drainage is desired. (Always follow your engineer’s spec and the pipe manufacturer’s embedment class.) Key properties Standard: EN 13242 (unbound aggregates) Form: Washed, low-dust; rounded or crushed options Behaviour: Free-draining, easy to level and compact Coverage / quantity (approx.) Use bulk density ≈ 1.6 t/m³ for volume-to-tonnage: Tonnes ≈ Length × Width × Depth (m) × 1.6 Typical embedment: bed to ≥100 mm below invert, ≥150 mm surround above crown (project-specific) Notes Check pipe material requirements (PVC/HDPE often prefer rounded/low angularity). Avoid oversized particles that could point-load the pipe. Do not substitute with fines-rich materials unless specified.
